This week’s post has been inspired by my husband and my brother in law, who are cycling from Reading to Lands End to raise money for Help the Heroes and Cancer Research. Today was their first day of five, and I’m very proud of them both – and hope they raise lots of money for both fantastic charities (all donations are very welcome!!).
Their determination to put something back has made me stop and think. I’m just not in the right place in my life at the moment to make a similar grand gesture, and although I have a handful of charities to which I make regular donations I would like to do something more.
What I would like to do is put something back in my own way, something that fits in with my commitments to my family and my business. I’ll be doing some more thinking over the next month or two to see what feels right, but I think it will involve giving some free assistance to one or two start-up businesses.
