If you’re thinking about partnering with us as your accountant, you’re probably keen to know how much it would cost. We get it; price is a really important part of the decision and you want to know whether we fit into your budget. The thing is, rushing into a proposal without getting to know you first could cause inaccuracies and issues down the line. It just wouldn’t be fair to you, so there are certain things we make sure to find out first.

A discovery call makes it possible to give you an accurate quote

Before we send a quote, we’ll always have a chat to get to know each other. This is our discovery call; it’s a chance to understand your business, find out what drives you and see if we click. It also lets us work out which of our services would be the most helpful for you and your business, so when it comes time to send the proposal we quote the most accurate figure possible.

Even if you only need one service, we’ll always have a call first

The discovery call is a chance for us to understand what you and your business truly need to achieve the things you want. If we were to email you a proposal before finding out your goals, we could miss out services you really need or over-quote for things that aren’t relevant.

This applies even if it looks like a straightforward setup and you just need us to do a quick tax return. Understanding your business first means we avoid getting three months down the line and realising you urgently need to register for VAT, or that your bookkeeping needs attention to make it HMRC compliant. Even if you’ve been told by another accountant that you only need one service, we’ll always want to go over everything with a fine-tooth comb to double-check.

Chatting face-to-face gives us important context

Your business is complex, unique and continually evolving. To really get to know how it works, there are specific things we’ll need to find out. We might ask where your business is based, what your turnover looks like, what software you use or why you’re leaving your current accountant. It paints a full, detailed picture of the support you need before we quote for it.

Before sending the quote, we need to see if we’re a personality fit

Choosing the right accountant is hugely important to getting what you want out of your business. If you don’t like your accountant, you probably won’t want to share personal details that could affect your business and need to be factored into your finances.

For example, if you’re getting divorced or are having a child, you need to feel comfortable telling your accountant. They’ll help you cope and create a plan to make the situation as financially beneficial as it can be.

The fact is, we just won’t be a good fit for everybody – and that’s okay! If you find an accountant you click with more than us, we think that’s great (and we encourage you to work with them). When you find an accountant who really gets you, it’s easy to reach your goals.
